Queen's Park host Falkirk at Hampden on Saturday in Scottish Championship action. Queen's have had a relentless schedule of late due to their Scottish Cup exploits, and their task doesn't get any easier with league leaders Falkirk up next. This is Queen's fifth match in March, with fixtures each midweek alongside a grueling trip to Pittodrie in their 4-1 cup defeat. Falkirk were spared a midweek match this week, and have played the bottom three in the league in their three matches so far in March. The Bairns took 7 points from these three matches, and will be looking to cement their lead at the top with a win over a struggling Queen's side.
Queen's have had much more joy away from home this season, sitting 4th in the away table. They are in second bottom place at home, scoring just 15 goals in their 14 home matches. As QP play their home games at the national stadium, there is often a cavernous atmosphere and an enormous pitch, which doesn't work well for a side like QP who don't play expansive football. They have fallen to defeat in 7 of their last 10 home matches, and Falkirk will be maximising the excellent playing conditions in their usual possession based style. Falkirk are the best away side in the division, with 8 wins from their 14 matches on the road and a +10 GD.
Over Queen's last 8 league matches, they have conceded at least twice on 5 occasions. They have conceded 1.38 goals per game from 1.5 xG created. They have scored just 1.13 goals per game from 1.17 xG on average, and have won just one home match in 2025. Queen's managed to escape Falkirk with a 0-0 draw last time these sides met in January, despite Falkirk logging 2.07 xG to Queen's 1.03 and a shot difference of +11.
Falkirk have been the best side in the division this season, and have only lost two ties in 90 minutes since November. They're currently on a run of 6 without tasting defeat, and won both their most recent matches over Airdrie away and Dunfermline at home comfortably, creating 2.2 and 2.25 xG respectively. Over their last 8 league games, they have averaged 2.25 goals from 1.91 xG and have scored at least twice in 6 of these 8 matches, and have found the net at least once in all 8. They have conceded at a rate of 1 goal per game from 1.12 xG conceded, so they have a very nice +0.79 average xG difference over their last 8.
Queen's Park were forced to give two first starts to squad players against Partick Thistle on Tuesday amid some tough injuries, fatigue and an illness in the camp. Thistle scored an excellent half volley within 5 minutes and always looked in control, before making sure of it in stoppage time in a 2-0 win. Falkirk have close to a clean bill of health and are in prime position to take advantage of Queen's squad issues on the huge pitch at Hampden on Saturday.
