Getafe vs Real Madrid: La Liga Preview
Real Madrid make the short trip across the Spanish capital to face Getafe on Wednesday evening, seeking to strengthen their pursuit of the La Liga title and build momentum ahead of the Copa del Rey final. For the hosts, a top-half finish is still within reach, though recent form suggests they may be more likely to look over their shoulders than climb the table.

Getafe enter the midweek fixture in 12th place and nine points clear of the relegation zone, but José Bordalás’s side have been stumbling in recent weeks. Defeats in three of their last four La Liga matches, including a narrow 1-0 loss to Espanyol last time out, have curtailed any real hopes of an unlikely European push.
Their home form has also taken a dip, with just one win in their last seven at the Coliseum (D2, L4), though that solitary victory did come in impressive fashion against Atlético Madrid. Replicating that performance against their neighbours from the Bernabéu, however, will be no easy task.
Head-to-Head and Form
Getafe’s recent record against Real Madrid makes for grim reading. They have lost each of their last six meetings with Los Blancos, failing to score in five of those encounters. In fact, the Azulones have won just once in the last 10 home league games against Real Madrid (D2, L7), and have not scored in the last two at home versus the capital giants.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are looking to stay within striking distance of leaders Barcelona. After being dumped out of the Champions League by Arsenal, Madrid responded with a late 1-0 win over Athletic Club on Sunday — Federico Valverde’s injury-time strike securing a crucial three points.
Los Blancos have now won two consecutive La Liga games by a 1-0 scoreline and will be aiming for a third straight away win in the league — something they haven’t achieved since the end of last season.
