Spurs vs Bodø/Glimt: Europa League Semi-Final Preview
Tottenham Hotspur welcome Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt to North London on Thursday night, with a place in the Europa League final on the line and a golden opportunity to bring silverware back to the club for the first time in over 17 years.

While Spurs continue to endure a torrid domestic season—fresh off a humbling 5-1 defeat to Liverpool—the Europa League has offered a welcome escape. Ange Postecoglou’s side, who currently sit 16th in the Premier League, now find themselves two matches away from a European final in Bilbao, despite their league struggles.
On the other side, Bodø/Glimt arrive at their first-ever European semi-final as one of the competition’s surprise packages. After dispatching group winners Lazio in the quarter-finals, the Eliteserien holders are flying the Norwegian flag proudly, hoping to become the first team from their nation to reach a UEFA club competition final.
Recent Form
Spurs come into the tie off the back of three straight domestic defeats, but their European form remains a stark contrast. The North London outfit have conceded no more than one goal in any of their four knockout games and boast a 19-match unbeaten run at home in Europe (W15, D4). Postecoglou made significant changes for the Liverpool loss and is expected to field a full-strength side this time.
Meanwhile, Bodø/Glimt remain unbeaten in the opening four matches of their 2025 Eliteserien campaign (W3, D1) and warmed up for this encounter with a comfortable 3-0 victory over KFUM Oslo. Their approach in Europe has been consistent—keeping things tight away before letting loose at home—losing all three away knockout matches this term, but only by one-goal margins.
Head-to-Head and Stats
This marks the first-ever meeting between Tottenham and Bodø/Glimt. Spurs hold a perfect record against Norwegian sides (W4) and have never lost to a team from the Scandinavian nation in European competition. The visitors, however, have lost all three of their past meetings with English clubs, including a narrow 3-2 defeat to Manchester United earlier in this campaign.
Bodø/Glimt’s attacking threat remains potent, having scored in 24 of their last 26 European games, while Spurs have scored at least once in 20 consecutive home matches in Europe.
Key Players
Tottenham: Dominic Solanke has been a rare bright spot this season. The former Bournemouth striker is Spurs’ top scorer and has netted nine of his 13 goals this term at home, including the decisive penalty in the quarter-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bodø/Glimt: Kasper Høgh is the standout name for the visitors. The Danish forward bagged a brace at the weekend and is the joint-leading scorer in this season’s Europa League with seven goals—three of which have come in the knockout rounds after halftime.
Team News
Tottenham are expected to revert to their strongest lineup after significant rotation at Anfield. Centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero will return to the XI, as will Rodrigo Bentancur in midfield. Heung-min Son remains a doubt with a foot injury, though he may return in time for the second leg. Radu Dragusin is unavailable due to injury, and Antonin Kinsky and Timo Werner are ineligible.
Bodø/Glimt face a mounting injury and suspension crisis. Midfield trio Andreas Helmersen, Patrick Berg, and Hakon Evjen are all suspended. Defender Odin Bjortuft suffered a groin injury last weekend and is unlikely to feature, further depleting Kjetil Knutsen’s squad.
Tottenham may be struggling domestically, but their home form in Europe and the pedigree of their squad gives them an edge. Bodø/Glimt, however, are no strangers to upsetting the odds, and despite missing key players, they will aim to stay within reach ahead of the return leg in Norway.
